The Colnago V5Rs Frameset is an all-rounder race bike designed to do one thing: win. When you're replacing a bike as storied as the V4Rs not just anything will do. So Colnago set out to make a bike that was both lighter and more aerodynamic. The result is a bike that's both faster uphill and downhill as well as on the flats.

Needless to say, this is the lightest frame ever made by Colnago. It weighs 12.5% less than its predecessor: just 685 grams for an unpainted frame. To achieve this Colnago didn't just need a new design, they had to invent new lamination and manufacturing techniques.

To make a bike that better cuts through the wind, they focused on the tip of the spear, right up at front. The revised head tube geometry perfectly integrates with a new lighter, thinner fork that can also now fit up to 32mm tires. To maintain internal routing for maximum aero advantage, the fork section has a D shape to host cables, enabled by new 1-1/8" top bearings with 1-1/4" on the bottom, as in the V4Rs. All together the frontal area has been reduced by 13% compared to the V4Rs.
